Leading Dutch university, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, organized a hackathon that provided a glimpse into the future of education and revolutionized the way companies, students, and teachers collaborate.
On May 20th, 2017, innovation enthusiasts from across the Netherlands came together to participate in a 24-hour hackathon.
During the hackathon, participants collaborated and co-created innovative solutions for the future of education and teaching at the university, while networking with peers. The event offered a platform for students to express their ideas on how education can be tailored to meet their individual needs. Furthermore, businesses were present at the event to foster more productive collaboration between the workforce and the education sector.
The primary objective of the HUH?! hackathon was to unite students, academics, companies, scholars, and alumni to generate practical solutions related to the topic ‘the future of education’. This goal was successfully achieved.
How can the University of Utrecht provide students with a personalized learning experience that aligns with their interests, strengths, and the necessary knowledge and skills required in their respective fields of study?
How can the University of Utrecht enhance collaboration and interaction between students, teachers, and professionals in order to better connect with the needs of professional practice?
How can we create a learning tool that enables students to work more efficiently in both physical and digital environments?
The hackathon was held on the campus of Utrecht University. Throughout the event, participants enjoyed exciting games and delicious food while transforming ideas into actionable solutions that the university could learn from. These solutions included web apps, videos, and social campaigns, all designed to enhance the education system within universities.
By the end of the hackathon, there were 6 viable solutions judges could choose from. New tools and solutions were created that could help the university of Utrecht become a leading (digital) university within the Netherlands.
